Richard Marin will also be leaving us on council.
Richard Marin loved to participate in the activities of those who worked in government. He accompanied a police officer on duty, participated in a firefighter training session, went on a health inspection, and even drove a Sound transit light rail car.
His fellow council members (me included) would all tease Richard Marin for this. I personally wondered when he was going to drive a sound transit train (I hope he got too). However, our teasing was not meant to be mean, but our way of praising his effort. Richard Marin wasn’t driving light rail cars for fun. He felt he would serve the citizens better by looking through the eyes of those who directly serve them.
I will always have the deepest regard for Richard. I hope he continues to contribute.
