The intersection at 196th and 88th in Edmonds is VERY dangerous, with limited site distance, excess speed, and increased pedestrian exposure to cars. It needs a traffic light.
Chris Fyall did an excellent job explaining the situation in his article in the Edmonds Enterprise (here).
I have one thing to add. I believe this intersection does indeed meet the traffic warrants. The warrants require five accidents in a year, and we had six accidents near the intersection in 2006. Yes, one accident seems unrelated to the issues at the intersection, but the other five convince me that we need a traffic signal.
